WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT THE DAY I AUDITION?
Upon entering the auditorium, you will be asked to sign in. Once we call your name, you will make your way to the stage and present about a minute of a song of your choice. A cappella singing or using an accompaniment track on an iPod are both acceptable options, but we strongly encourage using a track. You do NOT have to sing something from the show for your audition, but we do recommend a musical theatre song!
After you sing, we may ask you to read a few scenes with the other actors that are auditioning. You might even have to learn some choreography, so be ready to dance!
WHEN WILL I FIND OUT MY PART?
A day or two after you audition, you will receive a call from the camp counselors who will inform you of the role you have been selected for. Make sure you let us know how you want to be contacted on your application!
AND THEN WHAT?
A script read through will be held the week following auditions. Scripts will be passed out at this time and we'll talk about the summer and plans for the summer's cabaret night. After the script read through, actors should spend the following month becoming familiar with all of the songs from their show and memorizing their lines. It is expected all actors are off-book by the beginning of the rehearsals in July.
Carpe Diem students can apply to become counselors upon entering 10th grade. Those who are accepted will train for three summers as Counselors in Training, Junior Counselors, and eventually Senior Counselors once they have completed 12th grade.
